After finally getting over their semifinal hump over New Zealand, BCCI has released behind-the-scenes footage of Team India rejoicing as they reach the World Cup 2023 final. The Men in Blue were battling with inner demons due to their previous defeat to the Kiwis in the 2019 World Cup. However, with an emphatic 70-run win over them, they have put the rumours of feeling knockout anxiety to bed.
In the 3-minute video released by bcci.tv, centurion Virat Kohli can be seen expressing his happiness at reaching the final after a long wait of 12 years while embracing the coaching staff. A special moment where skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat pat each other as they realise that they have finally crossed the semifinal hurdle after getting knocked out in 2015 and 2019 is wholesome.
Head coach Rahul Dravid is also seen congratulating young Shubman Gill and spin menace Kuldeep Yadav. However, Ravichandran Ashwin overshadowed the head coach by kissing Mohammed Shami’s hands to appreciate his magic with the ball.
Yuzvendra Chahal joins Team India’s celebration
Soon after, India leg-spinner Chahal also joined the Men in Blue in the dressing room. Yuzi, who was unlucky to not make the squad, was beaming with joy, seeing that his teammates were one step closer to ultimate glory.
The former RCB player hugged his former skipper Virat Kohli to start with and then went on to meet every member of the team.
Fans’ glorious welcome to Team India
From the minute India left the stadium, they were met with chants and cheers. The fans crowded the streets as India made their journey back to their hotel. However, the best moment came at the team hotel, where fans started chanting, ‘jeetega bhai jeetega, India jeetega’, manifesting India’s win in World Cup Final on November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
