Most sixes in World Cups:

50 – Rohit Sharma
49 – Chris Gayle
43 – Glenn Maxwell
37 – AB de Villiers
37 – David Warner

In another achievement, Rohit Sharma also went on to smash most sixes in a single edition of the World Cup. The Indian captain again surpassed Gayle who had stroked 26 maximums in the 2015 edition. Apart from that, Rohit Sharma also touched the 1,500-run mark in just 27 World Cup games. Apart from him, Sachin Tendulkar (2,278), Ricky Ponting (1,743), Kumar Sangakkara (1,532), and Virat Kohli (1,610-plus) are the other players to achieve the record.

Meanwhile, Rohit missed his well-deserved fifty by just 3 runs as his opposite number Kane Williamson took an excellent catch to remove the dangerous batter. During his 29-ball stay at the crease, the veteran batter stroked four boundaries and the same amount of maximums. Thanks to his quickfire 47, team India got off to a perfect start in the IND vs NZ World Cup semi-final being played at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
