Alex Pereira claims vacant light heavyweight title, beats Jiri Prochazaka at UFC 295

Alex Pereira stopped previous champion Jiri Prochazka with devastating standing elbows, earning the vacant light heavyweight belt. It was Pereira's sixth UFC fight, and it was his first victory as a two-division champion.

In the second round of their main event fight, Alex Pereira stopped previous champion Jiri Prochazka with devastating standing elbows, earning the vacant light heavyweight belt.

It was Pereira’s sixth UFC fight, and it was his first victory as a two-division champion—an amazing accomplishment in and of itself. It was in line with the record he set in Glory Kickboxing when he achieved the same standing.

In the co-main event, Sergei Pavlovich was viciously knocked out by Tom Aspinall, earning him the interim heavyweight title. Pavlovich was knocked out in less than a minute after Aspinall gave him a side-of-the-head clip. With his father supporting him throughout the fight, Aspinall dedicated the victory to him. In other bouts, Diego Lopes destroyed Pat Sabatini via first-round TKO, Benoit Saint-Denis destroyed Matt Frevola via head-kick knockout, and Jessica Andrade returned to the winner’s column by stopping Mackenzie Dern via TKO.
