Erik ten Hag handed one-match ban after Man United’s win over Luton Town in PL

Erik ten Hag was given a one-match ban after collecting a third yellow card in Manchester United's Premier League victory over Luton Town.

Erik ten Hag received a one-match suspension for his behaviour during Manchester United’s triumph against Luton Town on Saturday. When he contested a judgement late in the Premier League match, the United manager received his third yellow card of the season.

Over the summer, football officials reduced the number of bookings required for a touchline punishment from four to three. So, when United return to Premier League play on November 26 against Everton, Ten Hag will be missing from the dugout.

The Red Devils won 1-0 over the Hatters at Old Trafford, with to Victor Lindelof’s 59th-minute goal. The centre-back scored his first goal in three years after replacing the injured Jonny Evans in place of Raphael Varane. Ten Hag, on the other hand, received a yellow card for arguing over the award of a throw-in.

“So that was about a moment so clear, it was a throw-in,” elaborated Ten Hag at his post-match press conference. “But it was the second time. I was on top of it and it was so clear and obvious [it was] our ball. It was my remark, therefore, I got booked.” said Erik ten Hag

“If the players get a red card, they probably get fined. But, for a booking, they don’t get fined. There is a certain point you have to accept decisions, what I should do as well.” ten Hag added.

Ten Hag, who missed Aaron Wan-Bissaka due to sickness on the day, is also concerned about Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hjlund, who were both forced off. United’s victory against Luton left them sixth in the Premier League table, giving Ten Hag crucial breathing room as speculation over his future at Old Trafford increases.
