Over the years, a few nations apart from India, have shown their prowess in the Pro Kabaddi, and Iran is at the top of that list. Not very far behind is South Korea, who have managed to produce players like Jang Kun Lee in the PKL, who are still remembered by the fans. But the Tournament has seen a few players from nations, who are no longer part of the PKL for various reasons.
Did you know, there was a time when in the first few seasons, players from Turkmenistan, England, and Oman also played in the PKL. Not just that, PKL also spread its roots to Thailand and Sri Lanka, where the sport is not popular at all.
The most surprising of them, without any doubt, has to be the player from Turkmenistan, Dovlet Bashimov. He played for the Patna Pirates in the very first Pro Kabaddi season in 2014 and scored only six points for them in 16 matches. That was the only season he participated in. Back then he was only 18, but could never make a comeback in the league.

Then there was the raider from Oman, Waleed Hasani. He represented Puneri Paltan in 2014, the first season of PKL. In the six matches he played, he could only attain 16 points, and could never make his way back into any other team. Hasani worked for the Royal Guards of Oman back then and provided security to the Sultan of Oman.
