Eddie Howe optimistic on Ruben Neves’ transfer as PL rivals plan rule change

Premier League chiefs will now have a meeting on November 21 to discuss the rule changes.

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe spoke on the potential transfer of Ruben Neves. The 45-year-old boss has hinted the Magpies will fight over a proposed ban on them loaning players from Saudi Arabia.

English top-flight clubs will vote later this month on whether to block winter loans between teams with the same owners. Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund owns Newcastle United and they also own four Pro League clubs in Saudi Arabia. The ownership of all clubs including the Magpies have pushed English clubs to vote out Newcastle.

The Magpies are finding options to boost their midfield. Sandro Tonali’s ten-month suspension for illegal betting created a big issue on the side. Ruben Neves could be a good replacement in the midfield. The 26-year-old is playing for Al Hilal and the same club is owned by Public Investment Fund. Newcastle are believing that the talented midfielder will make a return to the Premier League. He made the summer move to Saudi Pro League leaders for £47million.

Newcastle manager hailed Neves for his outstanding show at Wolves. and said, “He was a player we liked when at Wolves. We are open to signing players from anywhere if they’re good enough and make us better.” Howe was asked about the Neves’ transfer and what if the Magpies would fight the changes, he said: “You can make that assumption.”

Premier League chiefs will now have a meeting on November 21 to discuss the rule changes. If they want to pass this rule, 14 clubs should vote in favour of it.

Newcastle will follow the process and will hope for a favourable result on November 21. The 45-year-old will focus on their next Premier League tie against Bournemouth.
