‘Pakistan qualified for Airport’: Memes galore as IND vs NZ semis almost sealed

Pakistan Cricket Team's chances of making the semis look very bleak as they have to beat England by over 250 runs to surpass NZ net run rate

Qudrat ka Nizam might not help Pakistan this time as New Zealand’s thumping win over Sri Lanka yesterday almost knocked Pakistan out of the World Cup semi-final race. The Men in Green have one game left against England, but they need to beat by over 200 runs to surpass the net run rate of New Zealand. The task seems next to impossible, even more so with England back to winning ways. With no Pakistan in the semis, memers started making memes and took social media by storm.

Many of the netizens finally posted a tweet on social media saying “Pakistan qualified for airport.” One of the users mocked Babar Azam & Co by stating since it’s Diwali the team won’t go empty-handed, but with return gifts. Pakistan have always come out triumphant in such situations with Rub of the Green helping them. But this time, luck has run out, and the Asian team’s hopes of winning the second World Cup have been diminished.

Babar Azam & Co started the campaign with two wins against Netherlands and Sri Lanka but suffered three back-to-back losses against India, South Africa, and Australia. The loss to the Proteas is now haunting them, as they lost by just one wicket. Also, a close DRS review went against Pakistan. The loss to India and Australia by heavy margins had a huge impact on the net run rate.

Pakistan hope to sign off World Cup 2023 campaign on a winning note

While England might have been eliminated from the World Cup, they are still in contention to play Champions Trophy. A win of 160 runs against the Dutch has put England in the seventh spot. Another win against Pakistan would guarantee England a place in the CT 2025 event. On the other hand, Pakistan would be hoping to end the WC 2023 campaign on a winning note.
