Having reached the semifinal last year, Tamil Thaliavas aim to maintain consistency and better the show in the upcoming edition of the Pro Kabaddi League. Tamil Thalaivas performance over the years in PKL
Tamil Thalaivas made their debut in the fifth edition of the league. They had a very tough time in the league and finished at the bottom of the table in their first three editions of the PKL. In 2021, the team did slightly better by sealing the penultimate spot on the table.
Things finally turned last season. Under coach Ashan Kumar the Thalaivas managed to reach the playoffs for the first-ever time. They made it until the semifinal.

Tamil Thalaivas – Retained Players
Tamil Thalaivas have shown faith in their youngsters. Raider Narender was a revelation last season, playing in his maiden season, he filled the big shoes of the injured Pawan Sehrawat and was a vital cog in the team reaching the semifinal. As expected, he was retained by the side.
Stand-in skipper Sagar has been a key player in defence for the side over the last two editions of the PKL. He, along with Himanshu, M Abhishek and Mohir have all been retained. Meanwhile the team’s experienced raider Ajinkya Pawar was also retained before the auction this year.

How the team fared at the auction ?
After releasing Pawan Sehrawat, while one expected the team to go all out in the auction either on him or any other experienced raider, the team surprised by not doing that.
The team has opted for local players like Masanamuthu Lakshnanan, Satish Kannan and Selvamani K in the raids. Young Narender meanwhile is set to lead the attack for the upcoming edition of PKL.
In defence, they have picked up two promising defenders Amirhossein Bastami and Mohammadreza Kaboudrahangi.
