Infuriated Man United boss Erik ten Hag calls out controversial refereeing in UCL

Enraged Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag criticises dubious refereeing in the Champions League match against Copenhagen.

Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag was left disappointed following his team’s shocking defeat in Copenhagen. The infuriated Dutchman pointed out questionable refereeing decisions for yet another Champions League defeat. On Wednesday, Manchester United lost 4-3 to FC Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League.

“I’m very disappointed about such decisions. The game is never meant to be like this. This has nothing to do with football.” said Erik ten Hag in the post-match conference

Manchester United got off to a flying start at Parken Stadium. Rasmus Hojlund, a talented young striker, gave them a two-goal lead after 28 minutes. However, a disputed red card for Marcus Rashford in the 42nd minute transformed the game’s tone. While Copenhagen entered the break on equal footing. Red Devils manager Ten Hag was not thrilled with Rashford’s dismissal.

“The red card changed everything,’ said the United manager. “I think when you freeze-frame it, it always looks so much worse and as I say it takes them so long and they make a red card of it.” ten Hag added.

The red card, according to the Dutch manager, changed the direction of the game. He also called into question the two goals they gave up before halftime. The first was the subject of a questionable offside call, while the second was the subject of a contentious penalty.

“The second is a penalty that’s very harsh. The ball on the hand, but it’s so close and the hand is in such a normal position. He (Harry Maguire) went for the ball, and the ref needs such a long time. That is in four games, four penalties against us, and I say three are very debatable.” he concluded.

In the 69th minute, captain Bruno Fernandes hammered home a penalty shot to put United back in ahead. Copenhagen, on the other hand, would have the last laugh, capitalising on their numerical advantage to score twice in the final seven minutes to secure a dramatic victory.
