England batter Joe Root got dismissed in bizarre manner in the ongoing ENG vs NED Cricket World Cup game at MCA Stadium in Pune on Wednesday. The veteran batter, who plays the reverse scoop to near perfection, gets it horribly wrong in the game as he got bowled through his legs.
The incident happened in the 21st over of the England innings. Netherlands pacer Logan van Beek bowled on a length delivery and got it to come back into Root.

The batter had premeditated the shot and went for the unorthodox reverse lap but the ball just went between his legs and crashed onto the stumps.

Notably, Joe Root has been going through a slump in the ongoing Cricket World Cup. After starting the tournament with back-to-back fifties, the veteran batter has struggled to get going in last 6 games.
The 32-year-old has amassed just 216 runs in 8 innings so far at an average of just 26.
Talking about the game, the defending champions are struggling against Netherlands, losing 6 wickets for 192. Currently, Ben Stokes is at the crease along with Chris Woakes. Notably, England are already out of World Cup 2023 semi-final contention with 6 losses in 7 games.
However, the side still have to win their remaining two games in order to qualify for the Champions Trophy 2025.
