Despite not being named as the replacement for Hardik Pandya in the 15-man World Cup 2023 squad, spin all-rounder Axar Patel has shown that he has no ill will against any of his team members or Indian management. Axar had posted a cryptic message on his social media after the Southpaw was not selected for India’s original squad. The Gujarat player met up with Indian spearhead and teammate Mohammed Siraj at the RCB cafe in Bengaluru.
Mohammed Siraj and Team India are currently in Bengaluru for India’s league-stage match against the Netherlands on November 12. The Men in Blue and Siraj himself are in great nick. The right-arm pacer had been off-colour but came steaming in India’s 7th group stage match and ran through the Sri Lanka lineup.
India has already qualified for the semifinals and is still waiting to know which team they’ll be facing on November 15.

Is Axar Patel unhappy about his non-selection?
While Axar will be unhappy about his non-selection, the only thing that he will not rue is the fact that his replacement, Ravichandran Ashwin, has featured in just one of India’s eight matches so far.
The all-rounder has already been on the sidelines in the last two editions of the ODI World Cup (2015 and 2019) and would have been even more frustrated if he had to warm the bench in another World Cup.
