It was a SUPER show by the ‘Big Show’ Glenn Maxwell as his unbeaten 201 powered Australia to an unthinkable win in AUS vs AFG World Cup match at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Reeling at 91/7, Australia were looking at a heavy defeat in 292-run chase when Maxwell decided to go loose. The all-rounder enjoyed a fair-share of luck as well, being dropped in his 30s and surviving close LBW calls but the 35-year-old made the full use of the luck and punished the Afghanistan bowlers.

His astonishing innings included 21 fours and 10 sixes, the last coming off as a winning run.

Maxwell reached his first fifty in 51 balls. He then start toying the bowlers and took just 25 more balls to complete a hundred. He then scored the next hundred in 52 balls to take Australia over the line.

A record galore at Wankhede Stadium

Maxwell’s ‘once in a lifetime’ innings broke plethora of records at Wankhede Stadium. With 10 sixes in the innings, Maxwell surpassed his teammate David Warner and former South African skipper AB de Villiers to move to third in list of players with most sixes in World Cups.
