Both sides had several chances in the first half of the match. Punjab FC’s Ashish Pradhan had a free header from a corner of Madih Talal inside the box but the header went over the bar.

Hyderabad FC had a few chances of their own. Aaren D’Silva’s left-footed shot from the centre of the box missed the goal by a whisker following a fast break. Another Aaren D’Silva header was saved wonderfully by Kiran Chemjong of Punjab FC.

Late Goals

Punjab FC upped their tempo in after the hour mark in the second half. The northern team became more direct in their approach and that opened a few holes in the Hyderabad FC defence.

Punjab FC took the lead in the 82nd minute through Juan Mera. Mera’s left-footed shot from the centre of the box to the bottom right corner. Assisted by Madih Talal.

The attack was initiated by Mera from the right wing. Mera pushed it to Talal, who headed towards the byline. Talal made a simple pass to an unmarked Mera. Mera slotted the ball calmly past the goalkeeper into the gaping net.

Hyderabad FC were determined to salvage something from the game and their moment arrived late into the stoppage time. Mark Zothanpuia put in an inch-perfect cross inside the penalty area to Jonathan Moya. Moya had no difficulty in reaching the ball as he placed his header to the top right corner to bring a point home for the away side.
