Former India cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra has filed an FIR against Kamlesh Parikh and his son Dhruv Parikh. Chopra has claimed that he has been fraudulently duped by the father-son duo of Rs. 57.8 lakh in investment for a shoe business. The FIR has been lodged under PC section 406 (criminal breach of trust) for the fraudulent activity.
Kamlesh Parikh had previously served as a manager in the Hyderabad Cricket Association and his son Dhruv Parikh has taken Rs 57.8 lakh from Aakash Chopra to invest in a shoe business. In his FIR, Chopra claimed that he was supposed to receive the entire money from the father-son duo within 30 days with a 20% profit. In return, the former cricketer received just Rs 24.5 lakh while the remaining money wasn’t returned.
“We entered into a formally notarised agreement which stipulated that Dhruv was to return the money within 30 days with a 20% profit, and post-dated cheques were provided for recovery. However, a year later, only Rs 24.5 lakh has been returned, and two issued cheques were dishonoured,” said Chopra on his FIR.

“I spoke to Dhruv’s father, Kamlesh, and he promised to honour the agreement on his son’s behalf but failed to do so. Legal notices were served, but both father and son ceased communication, making the recovery of the principal amount, Rs 33.3 lakh, a challenge,” Chopra added.
SHO Arvind Kumar said, “The documents and evidence provided by the complainant are being examined. Further action will be taken following investigation. The accused will also be called for questioning.”
