With the loss in the final, Bopanna and Ebden finished as runner-up for the fifth time in the ATP Tour this season. This is also their third successive loss in the final after the US Open and Shanghai Masters.
A victory for Bopanna and Ebden would have taken them to the top of the rankings in Men’s Doubles. The Indo-Australian pair will next compete at the season-ending ATP Finals, which will be held in Turin from November 12 to 19.
Meanwhile, Santiago Gonzalez and Edouard Roger-Vasselin won their second successive title. They entered the Paris Masters this year after winning the Swiss Indoors title last week.
Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden’s performance this year
Bopanna and Ebden won the ATP 250 event in Doha earlier this year. They also claimed the title at Indian Wells. With the win, Rohan Bopanna became the oldest ATP Masters 1000 champion.
They then made successive runner-up finishes at Shanghai Masters, US Open and now at the Paris Masters. At the US Open, Bopanna became the oldest player to reach the Grand Slam final.
