The GOAT, former India skipper Virat Kohli turned 35 on Sunday, and he celebrated his birthday on the field, as India played their eighth encounter of the ICC World Cup 2023 against South Africa on the same day at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
What makes Virat Kohli’s birthday even more special is the fact that India has never lost a match on this day, with him around. The first such instance happened during a Test match against South Africa, where the match started on his birthday. India went on to win the match by a margin of 108 runs.
The second time India recorded a win on Virat Kohli’s birthday was in the ICC T20I World Cup 2021 when the team won chasing a target of 86 runs, with over 80 balls to spare.

What made Kohli’s birthday even more special was the fact that he scored a ton on a hard, slow wicket. In that bid, he also equalled Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most tons in ODI cricket. Not just that, he also surpassed Quinton de Kock to become the highest run-getter in this ICC World Cup 2023.
