Oliver Kahn, the legendary German goalkeeper, has announced that he would return to India for the first time since his farewell game in 2008. FC Bayern Munich travelled to India for Oliver Kahn’s farewell match on May 27, 2008, 15 years ago. Bayern Munich faced Mohun Bagan in front of a packed house at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan (Salt Lake Stadium) in Kolkata, India.

The renowned custodian Oliver Kahn’s final game saw around 130,000 spectators throng the stadium to watch his magnificence live. According to him, it was the largest crowd ‘King Kahn’ had ever played in front of.

Oliver Kahn is widely recognised as one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time. He won several awards at both the international and club levels, including the UEFA Euro and the UEFA Champions League. The eight-time Bundesliga champion played 55 minutes of the encounter.

FC Bayern Munich defeated Mohun Bagan 3-0 at Salt Lake Stadium. Zan Schaldrauff scored twice in the 18th and 52nd minutes. Ze Roberto scored the game’s last goal in the 55th minute. Oliver Kahn was recently fired as CEO of FC Bayern Munich, just minutes after the team won its 11th Bundesliga title in a row on the last day of the season.
