Boumous posted the picture of him wearing the Men in Blue jersey on his Instagram page, and captioned it, “Cricket World Cup 2023”.
The post prompted a host of reactions from the social media users, with many asking the French footballer to join the national football team. One user wrote, “Blue suits you Hugo.! Why don’t you join the football national team?”
Another user said, “You’re Indian without saying you’re Indian. Indian Football jersey would’ve suited you all the way in!”
The official X (previously Twitter) handle of Indian Super League posted the picture of the French footballer wearing the jersey from their account.
Indian Super League captioned the post, “The @cricketworldcup fever has rubbed off on @adnan_hugo.”
Hugo Boumous is in doubt to feature for the Mariners in their next games, having missed the away tie against Jamshedpur FC due to high fever. The French footballer did not travel with the Mariners and was not in the squad. The absence of Boumous must be a cause of headache for head coach Juan Ferrando, who will be looking to maintain Mohun Bagan Super Giant’s all-win record this Indian Super League so far.
The Mariners have had a blistering start to their ISL 10 campaign, having won four out of four games in this season’s tournament. Mohun Bagan Super Giant clinched a crucial 3-2 away victory against Jamshedpur FC in their last ISL match, Armando Sadiku, Liston Colaco and Kiyan Nassiri got on the scoresheet for the Mariners, as familiar names such as Hugo Boumous and Jason Cummings was absent from the squad.
