Aging like fine wine? Former Pakistan Cricket team captain and dependable all-rounder Shoaib Malik has made himself available for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Shoaib Malik has claimed that he is ready to join the team for the upcoming tournament if the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reaches out to him.

There are no guarantees that the veteran cricketer will be selected for the World Cup squad, but the former Pakistan skipper has claimed that he is fit and ready to don the Green jersey for his nation.

“I would love to lift T20 World Cup in 2024 for Pakistan. I have no physical fitness issue. I’m as fit as I was in my younger days. I’m available for Pakistan whenever PCB contacts me,” Shoaib told local press in Pakistan.

The 42-year-old cricketer played a T20I game for Pakistan almost 3 years ago in 2021 when Pakistan locked horns with Bangladesh. Shoaib Malik is a well-known name in the Cricketing world and he also boasts of having the second-highest runs scored in T20s. The veteran all-rounder has gone on to amass 12,688 runs from 515 matches so far in his career.

In the shortest format of the game, Shoaib Malik has been an instrumental figure for the Men in Green. He has gone on to represent his country for 124 matches where he has managed to score 2435 runs with 9 fifties under his belt. Equally brilliant in bowling, and has scalped 28 wickets and caught 50 catches to prove a vital asset for his nation.

Though he last played Tests in 2015 and ODIs in 2019, Malik has made himself available in T20Is. Should the team need him for the ICC T20 2024 World Cup scheduled to be held in USA and West Indies, the veteran is keen to showcase his standards in the mega stage.
