Hashmatullah Shahidi credits coach Jonathan Trott after third win at WC 2023

Before ODI World Cup 2023, Afghanistan had just one win in the past two editions.

After claiming their third victory at the ongoing World Cup 2023, Afghanistan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi heaped praise on their head coach, Jonathan Trott. The former English player joined the side as head coach in July last year and has been a big contributing factor in their recent success.

After downing Sri Lanka comfortably by 7 wickets, Shahidi shed some light on how Trott has helped him and the whole side. The Afghan skipper said, “Jonathan Trott has been a great motivator for us. Before the Pakistan game, he told me just one word which changed my mindset”.

“Coaches are always positive, we worked very hard before the World Cup. Also, right now all coaching and management staff are working hard and giving us confidence,” Hashmatullah Shahidi further added.
