Lionel Messi has post a short yet heartwarming message on Instagram following the Ballon d’Or 2023 triumph. The Argentine ace beat the likes of Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe. Messi had a season to remember, guiding Argentina to their third world cup in 2022.
” I only have words of gratitude for all the people around the world who supported me so much during my career and to whom I want to specially dedicate this award, along with my family who was always by my side.” Lionel Messi wrote on Instagram.

Messi dedicates his Ballon d’Or victory to Argentina’s teammates. However, Messi did not fail to express his appreciation to the players off the pitch, proving the wonderful guy he is.
“This is a Ballon d’Or that I also want to share with my fellow @afaseleccion, technical body, the employees… Because without the World Cup we achieved together it would have been impossible to win it.” Messi added.
Last year, Messi had an unbelievable World Cup, carrying Argentina on his shoulders and helping them win the cherished title for the third time. The 35-year-old scored a brace in the final against France, which went to penalties, where he also converted one.
Earlier this year, Messi was named FIFA Men’s Player of the Year, beating out Halland and Kevin de Bruyne.Messi made multiple firsts by winning his eighth Ballon d’Or and became the first MLS player to do it. Meanwhile, he is the first player in history to win the Golden Balls three times.
