Will be a big achievement for us: AFG captain Shahidi
“Of course, 100 per cent (on dreaming about entering semifinal). We are trying our best to make it to the semifinal and if it happens, it will be a big achievement for the country,” Shahidi said after the Netherlands match.
“I lost my mother three months ago and my family is in a lot of pain. It will be a big achievement (to reach the semifinal), first of all for the country, but also for my family,” he added.
With matches against South Africa and Australia, the chances of Afghanistan look bleak. However, Hashmatullah Shahidi & Co. cannot be taken lightly as they have defeated the defending champs England and neighbours Pakistan. History awaits if Afghanistan manage to win their next two matches which might confirm their spot in Semis.
However, if they lose one more match then they will have to wait for the results of other games. Afghanistan are slated to face Australia next on November 7 and South Africa (November 10) to complete their league games in World Cup.
