With Luis Diaz missing from Liverpool’s squad for their match against Nottingham Forest, Diogo Jota paid tribute to the winger following his first goal. Diaz did not play in the Reds’ Premier League match on Sunday due to alarming events in his native Colombia. On Saturday night, the winger’s parents were kidnapped in the village of Barrancas. An hour before kickoff, Liverpool announced Diaz’s absence for their 10th league game of the season, with Jota taking his place. After an emotional homage to his teammate, the Portuguese went on to open the scoring in the 31st minute at Anfield. Jota was pushed away towards the Liverpool dugout before raising Diaz’s No. 7 jersey in a fitting celebration.
