A frustrated Bangladesh team fan hit himself with a shoe after team’s embarassing defeat against Netherlands at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday. The fans also slammed players for their poor show in the World Cup.
Notably, the Shakib Al Hasan-led side failed to chase down 230 and got bundled out for mere 142, losing their fifth straight game in the Cricket World Cup.
Other supporters, who came from Bangladesh to cheer for the team, called out the team for poor show and said that the players deserved to be slammed.
” We dont mind losing to big teams. But how can you lose to Netherlands? Shakib, Mushfiq and all should be Sl*** with shoes. On behalf I am slapping myself”, the frustrated Bangldesh supporter said.

Talking about the game, Dutch skipper Scott Edwards’s half-century pushed team’s target to 229 after they elected to bat first.
Fast bowler Paul van Meekeren then picked up 4-23 as Bangladesh were bundled out for 142 in 42.2 overs. With just 2 points in 6 games, Bangladesh are languishing at number 9 spot in World Cup points table.
Controversy with Tamim led to poor performances: Shakib
After the loss, Shakib Al Hasan claimed the controversy with Tamim Iqbal was one of the reason behind team’s poor performance in the World Cup.
“It might have affected the team. It’s not unusual. You don’t know what an individual has in his mind but I am not disagreeing with the fact that (the controversy) might have affected us,” Shakib said after the loss.
Bangladesh will next face Pakistan in the World Cup at Eden Gardens on October 31.
