Erik Ten Hag exudes confidence on Mason Mount ahead of Manchester Derby

Erik Ten Hag is confident in Mason Mount ahead of the Manchester Derby after being named to Manchester United's squad.

Erik ten Hag has intimated that Mason Mount would start against Manchester City in the Manchester derby. He says he is pleased with Mason Mount’s progress at Manchester United thus far. On 29th October, United will face City in an exciting derby.

The 24-year-old was United’s first acquisition of the summer, moving from Chelsea in a deal costing £55 million at the time. Because to performance-related add-ons, the cost might potentially reach £60 million.

Ten Hag was determined to bolster his midfield options by bringing in a younger, more energetic player. He identified Mount as the ideal choice, but despite the hype, he has had a sluggish start at his new club.

“I think in every game, our game would benefit from Mason Mount,” Ten Hag said in the derby build-up. “I don’t have any concern to line him up. He did come on in a lot of games, he started in a lot of games. In the last game [against Copenhagen] he didn’t [play]. But definitely he is one we consider for Sunday because he has abilities to be very helpful against City.”

Mount has only appeared in six games for United, missing five due to injury. He was an unused substitute in United’s midweek win against Copenhagen. Since joining United, the former Chelsea midfielder has yet to produce a memorable performance. Ten Hag, on the other hand, is pleased with what he has seen thus far from the summer signing.

Following the derby on Sunday afternoon, United will compete in the Carabao Cup in the fourth round. On November 1, Old Trafford will host a rematch of last season’s final versus Newcastle.
