Rohit Sharma’s record-breaking run in Cricket World Cup continues, joins elite list in IND vs ENG

Rohit Sharma amassed 47 runs to reach the 18,000 runs in the international. He achieved the feat in the IND vs ENG World Cup match.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma etched his name in the record books as he completed 18,000 runs in the international circuit. Rohit Sharma achieved the feat during IND vs ENG World Cup match in Lucknow. It must be noted that Rohit became the fifth Indian batter to achieve the milestone. He amassed 47 runs in the ongoing match IND vs ENG match to join the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly.

Rohit Sharma was dismissed on 87

Rohit was looking good for a ton. However, the right-handed batter got dismissed on 87 runs. During his innings, He smashed 10 fours and three maximums. Rohit was scalped by Adil Rashid as Liam Livingstone completed a fine catch in the deep. Rohit missed another record by some margin.

Sharma has been on six hitting spree in the competition. He has so far smashed 20 maximums in World Cup 2023. Overall, Rohit has hit 43 sixes in the marquee event. He is just behind Chris Gayle (49) for most maximums in the World Cup. 

Meanwhile, team India managed to post 229 runs in their allotted 50 overs. Apart from Rohit, Suryakumar Yadav was good with the bat as he missed out on a fine fifty. The likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav also managed to add some runs towards the ending phase of the innings. For England, David Willey was pick of the bowlers with three wickets to his name. Chris Woakes and Adil Rashid also scalped two wickets each while Mark Wood got one wicket to his name.
