Australia defeated New Zealand by five runs in a thrilling AUS vs NZ game of the Cricket World Cup, in Dharamshala on Saturday. Chasing 389, New Zealand openers Devon Conway and Will Young started on a positive note. After their dismissal, Rachin Ravindra kept the chase going for the Kiwis and scored a brilliant 116 off 89 balls before getting dismissed. With 35 needed in 12 balls, James Neesham took the game till the end but was run-out in the second last ball and New Zealand were eventually restricted to 383/9 in 50 overs.
It was another heartbreak for New Zealand who saw a similar fate in the 2019 World Cup final. Needing 2 in the final ball of the Super Over, Martin Guptill got run-out while taking the second run and England were declared winners on the basis of boundary count.

Earlier, Australian openers Travis Head and David Warner, helped Australia pile a massive 388 on the board. The duo started attacking the Kiwi bowlers from the word go. Australia were 118/0 at the end of first powerplay. The pair added 175-run before Glenn Phillips got rid of Warner for 81(65). Head soon followed after scoring 109 off 67 balls.
A stunning cameo from Glenn Maxwell (41) and skipper Pat Cummins (37) towards the end powered the Men in Yellow to 388.
