Rohit Sharma’s best records through his illustrious 16-year career

In October 2023, Rohit broke the record for most sixes hit in international cricket.

Rohit Sharma has been seen as one of the most talented players in the game since his debut in 2007. While it took him some time, the batter has excelled in all formats of the games, having reached the top 10 in ranking in ODIs, Tests, and T20Is.

We have seen Rohit grow in stature in the last decade, and the batter has even led India in T20 and ODI World Cups. However, what are Rohit’s records in international cricket, and where does he find himself when comparing him to other greats of the game?

Rohit Sharma Records in T20

Rohit holds several records in T20, a format he’s dominated ever since his debut in 2007. He is the 2nd highest run-getter in T20Is (3853 runs), behind just his teammate Virat Kohli. The right-hander has the 2nd most fifties in T20Is (33), just 5 behind Kohli.

However, Rohit’s best record is being in the top 10 list of fastest players to score 2500, 3000, and 3500 runs in T20Is. Apart from these, the Mumbai-born cricketer also holds the record for hitting the most sixes in T20Is (182).

The current Indian skipper also holds the record for playing most T20I matches (148) and has received 12 Man of the Match awards (3rd most).

Rohit Sharma Records in ODI

Rohit is arguably the most destructive ODI batter. He has three double hundreds (record in ODIs) and also the highest individual score in an innings (264 runs).

He is the top 5 fastest player to score 7000, 8000, 9000, and 10000 ODI runs and has the 3rd most centuries in ODI cricket (31 in 256 matches), behind just Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar.

As a testament to his hitting power, he has 3rd most sixes (309), holds the record for most 4s hit in an innings, and is played 2nd in most 6s hit in an innings list.

The right-handed opener’s record in Test cricket isn’t that great, however, his captaincy record is great. Among captains who have led the side in equal or more matches than him, he has the 2nd best win percentage for an Indian Test captain.

Currently, he is ranked 19th in the most runs list for India (3677 runs) and 17th in players with the most centuries for Pakistan (10). He is also 16th when it comes to the best average (46.54) for the Men in Blue in the longest format of the game.

The batter also has the 3rd most sixes for an India in Tests (77), behind just Virender Sehwag (91) and MS Dhoni (78).
