However, their 6-0 drubbing to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal in the AFC Champions League recently must have forced the MCFC coach to rethink his plans. A win against the Nizams is sure to lift the confidence of the Islanders after the disappointing loss in ACL.
Speaking ahead of the match, MCFC coach Des Buckingham said, “We are looking forward to getting back and playing in the Indian Super League. We had a strong start to the season (domestic), won two games and drawn one. We have put ourselves in a strong position already and need to pick up where we left off last year. But we are also mindful, Hyderabad are a different team than what they were last year.”
The Nizams on the other hand has endured a rocky start to the season. HFC are the only team in this season’s ISL yet to open their points tally. The Nizams have played three matches in ISL 10 so far and have lost all three. They languish at the 12th spot of ISL table with 0 points from three matches. The Nizams would look to cause an upset against Des Buckingham’s side to get their ISL campaign back on track.
Speaking about the opponents at the weekend, HFC First Team Coach Conor Nestor said, “Mumbai City are a team who have set the standard in the league in recent years. Playing them away from home is a massive test for us right now but one we are looking forward to.”
