Team India’s star cricketer Virat Kohli is one of the legends of the game. Apart from being a skillful cricketer, the former India skipper is known for being an A-class athlete. Virat Kohli has always kept fitness as his priority and takes a well-balanced diet with the right mix of workout routines to stay at top in all three formats.
The 34-year-old is continuing his strict diet plan during the ongoing Cricket World Cup as well.
A chef from one of the hotels where the Indian cricket team stayed has revealed Virat Kohli’s diet during the tournament. The executive chef at Leela Palace told Times of India (TOI) that the former Indian skipper has been incorporating high-protein food, including tofu and soy-based meals.
“The buffet has all kinds of meat but the players opt for steamed or grilled chicken or fish,” Anushman Bali, executive chef at Leela Palace, was quoted as saying to TOI.
Kohli, who is currently the highest run-scorer for India in the World Cup, also includes mock meats in his diet as he doesn’t eat meat.
“Virat doesn’t eat meat and so we went for steamed foods, like vegetarian dim sums, and other vegetable-based proteins, like soya, mock meats, and lean proteins, like tofu for him. We include as little dairy as possible in his meals,” added Anushman.
India team liked ragi dosas for breakfast: Chef
The chef also gave an insight to Indian team’s diet and revealed that the squad enjoys ragi dosas for breakfast.
“We have millet dosas, millet idlis and quinoa idli on the menu. All the players know it’s healthy protein, so they all tried it. Ragi dosas were a favourite with the Indian team for breakfast,” he said.
The chef also revealed that the teams only order alcohol for a post-win party.
Team India is currently in Lucknow and is preparing for the IND vs ENG clash set to take place on Sunday, October 29.
