Pakistan Innings Summary:

Opting to bat in Chennai in do-or-die clash, Pakistan once again had a poor start with both Abdullah Shafique and Imam Ul Haq departing within first 7 overs. As has been the case, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan started rebuilding but Rizwan fell to Gerlad Coetzee.

From 86/3, Babar Azam and Iftikhar Ahmed started the rebuilding process again. But Tabraiz Shamsi dismissed Iftikhar to deal a blow. Soon, Babar Azam also departed soon.

Shaud Shakeel and Shadab Khan added 84 runs patiently to take Pakistan to a better position. However, once the partnership was broken, Pakistan kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Tabraiz Shamsi picked up four wickets for 60 runs while Marco Jansen bowled another great spell, returning with 3/43.

South Africa Innings Summary:

What could have been a walk in the park considering the batting shows they have had, Pakistan fought back.

Shaheen Afridi struck in the fourth over to dismiss teh dangerman Quinton de Kock. Temba Bavuma also departed soon, leaving South Africa at 67/2.

But Aiden Markram started the rebuilding process with Rassie van der Dussen. The pair added 54 runs before Dussen perished to Usama Mir, who came in as a concussion substitute for Shadab Khan.

Soon, Mohammad Wasim Jr dismissed another dangerman Heinrich Klaasen. When it seemed Pakistan are actually back in the game, Markram added another 70-run stand with David Miller.

But then the match was in pakistan’s favour with Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf dismissing David Miller and Marco Jansen. Soon, Usama Mir also got the big wicket of Markram who departed for 91.

With Gerlad Coetzee also departing, the equation was 21 needed to win for Proteas and 2 wickets for Pakistan.

Haris Rauf ensured Pakistan had the upperhand when he took a brilliant catch in his follow-through to remove Lungi Ngidi. But then on, Keshav maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi held on to their nerves to get the required 11 runs.
