Everton face 12 points deduction in Premier League following FFP rule breach

Everton will lose 12 points in the Premier League due to a violation of the FFP regulation, bringing them closer to relegation.

Everton are facing a 12-point deduction after the Premier League proposed a punishment for allegedly violating Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations. They might finish last in the league with -5 points. Everton are already in danger of relegation even without this potential punishment.

The Toffees, who have survived relegation in each of the previous two seasons, are accused of breaking Premier League financial regulations. The Premier League in England is reported to want them punished severely in order to create a strong example.

If found guilty, Everton may face a 12-point deduction. According to the current table, that would put them at the bottom with a score of -5. In each of the previous two seasons, such a punishment would have been sufficient to relegate them.

It would also be the most significant point deduction in Premier League history. Portsmouth were docked nine points in 2010 for entertaining administration. While Middlesbrough were docked three points in 1997 for postponing a game due to a lack of players. Both teams were subsequently relegated.

Insidesport

The Merseyside club is sure of their innocence. They contend that exemptions, particularly those pertaining to Covid, will be sufficient to satisfy the independent panel. Everton is said to have lost £371.8 million in financial losses, despite the Premier League allocating a budget of £105 million.

Other sanctions, such as a fine, a transfer embargo, or a reduction in points, are also conceivable. The Premier League, on the other hand, wants Everton punished severely. Everton is now involved in a takeover issue. 777 Partners, an American business, is buying Farhad Moshiri’s 94% ownership in the club.
