‘I don’t care about records’ Ronaldo affirms after reaching 43 goals landmark in 2023

'I don't care about records' Cristiano Ronaldo asserts after scoring 43 goals for Al Nassr and Portugal in 2023.

Cristiano Ronaldo of Al-Nassr declared that he doesn’t worry about personal records after scoring his 43rd goal of the calendar year. The Portuguese superstar also stated that he is having a good time in Saudi Arabia and hopes to make Al-Nassr the greatest team in the Saudi Pro League.

“I don’t care much about records,” he said. “I’m just thinking about enjoying it at the moment.”

On Tuesday, October 24, Al-Nassr took on Al-Duhail in their third AFC Champions League match. The Saudi Pro League team won the match 4-3 thanks to goals from Anderson Talisca, Sadio Mane, and Ronaldo’s second-half brace.

With barely two months left in the season, the Portuguese forward leads the global scoring lists for 2023. Ronaldo, on the other hand, claims to be unconcerned by personal achievements.

“Our team is improving from one match to another. Our coach and the technical staff are making a great effort to make Al-Nassr the strongest team. The key to continuing to achieve records is that I am having fun, and this is a beautiful thing in football and the secret of my continuity.”

Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in January and has led the Saudi Arabian team since then. Ronaldo has 14 goals and seven assisted in 13 games for them this season across various competitions. He elaborated on what distinguishes him from his colleagues.

“I am happy that I scored goals and performed well, but Cristiano is different from others. I work well, and in the end what I achieve comes with the help of my colleagues and the technical staff. Most importantly I am having fun at the moment and helping Al-Nasr and the Portuguese team.”

Ronaldo has had an outstanding start to the season with Al-Nassr, scoring 20 goals in 19 games across all competitions. He is presently well ahead of Erling Haaland and Mauro Icardi, Europe’s leading goal scorers in 2023, who have each scored 34 goals.

With 11 goals, the 38-year-old is also the best scorer in the Middle Eastern football league. He leads Al-Hilal’s Aleksandar Mitrovi by four goals. On Saturday, October 28, Al-Nassr will face off against Al Feiha.
