Watch Wasim Akram slams PCB chief Zaka Ashraf for team’s poor performance in WC

Wasim Akarm is unimpressed with the way Pakistan have performed so far in the WC. Akram has blamed Zaka Ashraf for the team's shoddy show

Wasim Akram does not mince words and has the bones to make his displeasure known to the public. This time it was no different as the legendary pacer slammed PCB chief Zaka Ashraf for the team’s poor show in the World Cup so far. Ashraf, who took over from Najam Sethi as CEO before the Asia Cup, has so far failed to inspire the team. Rather than sticking to the old template, which brought Pakistan success, Ashraf has brought in new changes that have not gone too well with players.

In a scathing attack, Akram said, “You came in as Chairman of PCB and immediately chopped and changed as you brought in your personnel. You were interested in hiring foreign coaches, and you got your wish fulfilled. Next time, please don’t think about yourself, but think of the team first. All the previous CEOs of PCB built a system very carefully and put the team first.

You changed that and instead made the National Coaching Center. Why you changed that, I fail to understand. Just leave the system, and don’t make unnecessary changes. And in this NCA/National Coaching centers, there have not been a single camp,” Akram said in a chat show for Pakistan TV.

Another thing that disappointed Akram was the schoolboy fielding errors by Babar Azam & Co. The former Pakistan captain also stated there have been no fitness tests conducted by the PCB for these players for the last two errors. In the five matches that Pakistan have played so far, they have 10 dropped catches.

Also, they have managed to win only two matches, and have lost three games. The loss against Afghanistan was the last nail in the coffin.
