What Happened

The Bangladesh champions sported a maroon jersey initially at the away match against Mohun Bagan Super Giant. However, their kit was identical to the famous Green & Maroon jersey of Mohun Bagan Super Giant. The spectators, at both the ground and on screens, found it difficult to differentiate between both teams because of similar colours in the attire.

The match officials faced their share of problems too, with the referee having a hard time conducting the game fairly. There was some controversial calls in the match, including an offside decision against MBSG. However, the replays confirmed the the last MBSG man was indeed onside with a Basundhara Kings player playing him on.

It is believed that the similar jerseys of both teams may have contributed to the confusion for the linesmen, prompting the official to mistake a Basundhara Kings player as a Mohun Bagan Super Giant footballer and raising the flag.

The team from Bangladesh had to change their jersey at half-time to alleviate any chances of any other fiasco in the second half. Basundhara Kings changed into their home kit for this season. The kit is primarily based on the colour red. The jersey helped the spectators and match officials easily differentiate between the teams.

To talk about the match, the clash between Mohun Bagan Super Giant and Basundhara Kings ended in a 2-2 draw. The Mariners conceded their lead twice as Basundhara Kings showed great resilience to come back after falling behind. Dimitri Petratos and Ashish Rai scored for the Mariners while Dori and Robinho scored for Basundhara Kings.
