Fans on the social media took a dig at the Pakistan cricket team after they lost their first ever ODI match against Afghanistan. However, nothing can be taken from the Afghanistan side who were absolutely brilliant in Chennai. As a result, Babar Azam and Co. had to suffer a loss by 8 wickets.
Earlier in the match, Pakistan won the toss and opted to have a bat first. The Men in Green openers started on a good note. Skipper Babar Azam also looked in good touch but the Afghani spinners kept a lid on the scoring rate. However, some late hitting from all-rounder Shadab Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed meant that Pakistan cross the 280-run mark.
Chasing a decent total, Afghanistan openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran completed fifties. Rahmat Shah who came to bat at number 3 also played well for his fifty. Skipper Shahidi also remained unbeaten for his 48 runs.
