Ten Hag’s team fell short against reigning German champions Bayern Munich in the first matchday. However, the 3-2 defeat suffered by the Red Devils at the hands of Galatasaray exposed their defensive frailties. It would be a challenge for Ten Hag and co. to close down the defensive gate against the Danish club.
Red Devils manager Eric Ten Hag labelled the game as a ‘must-win match’. “If you lose the first two games, you have to win. We have to win every game but if you see the group, yeah, if you lose the first two games then definitely you have to win,” Ten Hag said.
FC Copenhagen on the other hand drew against Galatasaray in the opening matchday of UEFA Champions League. The Danish champions then hosted Bayern Munich in matchday two. They suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat at the hands of the German Champions in front of the home crowd.
“We are third now, and the goal must be, when we have met Man United twice, that we are the status quo. Whether it’s two draws or a defeat and a win, but that’s what we have to go for,” FC Copenhagen coach Jacob Neestrup said about Manchester United.
