Chelsea 2-2 Arsenal: Gunners come from two goals behind to earn a point

Arsenal have won six out of their last seven matches against Chelsea.

Arsenal on Saturday overcame a 2-0 deficit against Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge to draw the game 2-2 and continue their unbeaten run in the Premier League. Arsenal climbed to the second position in the Premier League with the draw, although Chelsea coach Maurio Pochetinno would be disappointed to lose a two-goal lead.

Chelsea returned to action after the international break aiming to continue their momentum, having posted three straight wins in all competitions. After a difficult start to the campaign, Mauricio Pochettino and his men found life with a win over Brighton in the EFL Cup before defeating Fulham and Burnley in the Premier League. Chelsea made two changes to the side that beat Burnley 4-1 last time out. Gusto missed that game due to suspension and got the nod against the Gunners to return at right-back ahead of Disasi. Armando Broja missed out out with a knee injury and is replaced by Mudryk in the final third. Captain James is back on the bench after recovering from a hamstring injury.

Arsenal would not have wanted the international break to come after securing a huge win over Manchester City on matchday eight. Gabriel Martinelli struck late in the game at the Emirates Stadium to end the Gunners’ poor run of form against the champions. Arsenal changed two personnel to their side following their win over Manchester City last time out. Saka returned from injury to take his place on the right flank as he replaced Trossard, who dropped to the bench. Martinelli also came back to the starting lineup in place of Nketiah.

Chelsea started the game in brisk pace, and scored in the 15th-minute mark when Cole Parmer converted a penalty. Mudryk attacked a cross from the right flank that struck Arsenal defender William Saliba on the arm. The referee, who ruled against a penalty initially, consulted the screen and changed his decision.

Arsenal was lacklustre to say the least, and Chelsea scored a second right after the second half started. Mudryk caught Raya off balance at the near post as his attempted cross found the back of the net. Chelsea broke with numbers down the left flank and Gallagher fed the Ukraine international. He looks for Sterling at the back post, but his cross soared over Raya and into the back of the net.

Arsenal pulled themselves up soon after the second goal as substitute Leandro Trossard found more space in the left wing. Declan Rice capitalised from a Robert Sanchez mistake and shot a 30-yarder right over Sanchez’ head. Arsenal increased the intensity and Leandro Trossard scored from a wonderful run on Bukayo Saka’s cross. The Gunners maintained their unbeaten run in the Premier League through the draw.
