No Neymar in India? Brazilian football icon in doubt for Mumbai City vs Al Hilal

Neymar Jr's participation in  AFC Champions League 2023 match between Mumbai City and Al Hilal in India in under uncertainty following his injury

Neymar had to be stretchered off the pitch after suffering a knee injury in Brazil’s 2-0 loss to Uruguay. Thus his participation in Mumbai City FC  vs Al Hilal encounter in the AFC Champions League 2023 is in doubt. Neymar, who plays for Al Hilal, was scheduled to play in the ACL group stage match in India on November 6. When Al-Hilal SFC was slated to face Mumbai City, there was a lot of excitement around Neymar’s coming in India.

The team had to relocate the location to the 55,000-seater DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai due to the enthusiasm. It was because there was a tremendous demand for tickets to see Neymar in action. However, his arrival seems to be a far-fetched affair given the injury.

Neymar’s injury came at the conclusion of the first half when he stumbled while running.. Players from both teams swarmed around him as he grabbed his left knee in agony.

The medical crew at the Centenario Stadium promptly treated to Neymar. He was then brought off the pitch on a stretcher. He held his hands to his face as he was led away, plainly overcome by anguish and sadness.

During halftime, the extent of Neymar’s injuries was unknown. Brazil’s medical team did not offer an instant report following the game. However, he was informed that testing had already been carried out. Additional tests have been set for the following day. Rodrigo Lasmar, team doctor, underlined the importance of the following 24 hours in monitoring the knee’s reaction and swelling.

The Islanders’ home form and continental form have been radically opposite. They began their AFC Champions League 2023 campaign with a 2-0 loss against Iranian club FC Nassaji Mazandaran in Pune. They travelled to Uzbekistan on the second matchday to face Navbahor. Uzbekistan scored three goals in the second half to earn a convincing win.

Mumbai City’s chances of moving to the knockout phase are bleak, with two defeats under their belt with games against Al-Hilal on the horizon. Even without the possibility of meeting Neymar, the Saudi Arabian club’s roster includes Ruben Neves, Aleksander Mitrovic, and Malcom.

Indian supporters, on the other hand, were thrilled to be able see one of the world’s top players in action. They will be hoping that Neymar’s injury will not keep him out for a lengthy amount of time. Mumbai City FC will meet Al Hilai in the first leg on October 23rd, with the rematch taking place on November 6th.
