Shardul Thakur/Ravichandran Ashwin quandary for India as India face Bangladesh

Speaking about Shardul, the all-rounder featured against Pakistan in Ahmedabad. The pitch there did not aid spinners, and hence skipper Rohit Sharma went with the option of playing Shardul. However, the Pune pitch will assist spinners more. During the IPL games in 2020 and 21, the spinners thrived bowling on the slow and low Pune pitch.

India have Ravichandran Ashwin up their sleeve as the spinner. The off-spinner featured in only one match so far against Australia. Against games versus Afghanistan and Pakistan, India preferred Shardul. However, the 32-year-old had a mediocre outing with the ball in hand against Pakistan. Thakur bowled only two overs but went for 12 runs. He did not get the opportunity to bat.

Thakur will likely not play the game against Bangladesh if the Pune pitch aids spinners.
