Mohd Rizwan to be banned? Complaint filed against Pak superstar, know why?

Rizwan had also tweeted in support of Gaza amid the ongoing conflict between Palestine and Israel, which had also brought him criticism.

Mohammad Rizwan is in trouble for his on-field act and if could face a ban if ICC disallows him from offering namaz. Vineet Jindal, a supreme court lawyer, has filed a complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC) against Pakistan’s wicketkeeper for offering namaz during the PAK vs NED match in Hyderabad on October 6. While the reason sounds bizarre, Jindal wrote in his complaint that Rizwan had “defeated the spirit of sports” by this act.

Interestingly, Vineet Jindal is the same person who had earlier filed a complaint against Pakistan host and commentator Zainab Abbas, claiming her tweets were blasphemous and offensive towards Indians and Hinduism.

This isn’t the first instance of Mohammad Rizwan offering Namaz in the middle, with the batter doing the same against India in the T20 World Cup 2021. The wicketkeeper did not get much criticism during this time.

However, with the World Cup 2023 happening in India and the tensions between India and Pakistan off the field, legal action has been taken against the player.

Earlier, the ICC decided not to take any action against Rizwan for his tweet in support of Gaza on October 11, after Pakistan beat Sri Lanka in their second match.

The ICC said that it is not in their authority to take action against an individual for what he does outside the field. If any action were to be taken, it would be up to the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) and Rizwan himself.
