WATCH: Crowd taunt Pakistan’s Muhammad Rizwan with ‘Jai Shri Ram’ chants during IND vs PAK

A controversy erupted during the match when Muhammad Rizwan was returning to the pavilion after getting out in IND vs PAK on Saturday.

Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan was subjected to crowd’s taunting during IND vs PAK clash at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Saturday. Rizwan, who scored 49 in the game, got dismissed off a slower delivery from Bumrah. While he was walking towards the dressing room, a section of spectators chanted ‘Jai Shri Ram’ to mock him.

The incident have been mixed from social media. While many cricket fans criticise the actions of the Ahmedabad fans, few section of users justify the actions of the Ahmedabad crowd.

Many Indian politicians also came forward and criticised crowd’s behaviour towards Rizwan. DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin said on Twitter wrote, “India is renowned for its sportsmanship and hospitality. However, the treatment meted out to Pakistan players at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is unacceptable and a new low. Sports should be a unifying force between countries, fostering true brotherhood. Using it as a tool to spread hatred is condemnable.”

Talking about the game, Team India secured a dominating win over Pakistan on Saturday. Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav shone with the ball while Indian skipper Rohit Sharma starred with bat as the Men in Blue extended their unbeaten run against Pakistan in ODI World Cup. After bundling out the visitors for 191, Team India chased down the target in 30.3 overs and moved to the top of the ICC World Cup points table.
