Indian Football Team's Lallianzuala Chhangte denied equalizer in India vs Malaysia in Merdeka Cup as controversy heightens

The Indian Football Team was denied legit equalizer following the unavailability of goaline technology in the Merdeka Cup. Lallianzual Chhangte had thought to find the equalizer for this team in the 57th minute of India vs Malaysia Merdeka Cup opener. This came after Sunil Chhetri had reduced the deficit a few minutes ago.

Chhangte received the ball inside the penalty area and shoots directy. The ball is deflected off Ahmad and appears to go inside before Cools clears the area. Cools had kicked it out shortly after. As the footage clearly demonstrates, the ball did in fact go inside, Stimac and the Indian contingent werere indignant about it being a legit goal.   The referee, though, disagreed and disallows the equalizer on the context of goalline technology.

The incident bears resemblance to the famous Frank Lampard ghost goal during England vs Germany back in 2010 FIFA. With 37 minutes remaining in the game and England behind 1-2, midfielder Frank Lampard spotted Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer off his line and attempted a long range shot, but it smacked the underside of the crossbar. Lampard was among the English players who unsuccessfully argued their case to referee Jorge Larrionda.

The ball crossed the line by two or three feet, according to the replays. The crowd booed in response to the choice. The event is likely what gave rise to the goal-line technology we use today.
