All-rounder Shardul Thakur showed great presence of mind near the boundary ropes to dismiss Afghani batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz during IND vs AFG World Cup match in Delhi. Thanks to Shardul’s brilliance on the field, birthday boy Hardik Pandya got his first wicket of the match. Gurbaz also looked stunned as he walked back to the pavilion.

Earlier in the match, Afghanistan won the toss and opted to have a bat first at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Jasprit Bumrah gave the first blow to the Afghani side as he scalped the wicket of opener Ibrahim Zadran. The second wicket was grabbed by Hardik as Shardul completed a terrific catch at the fine-leg region.
The third wicket of the Afghani innings was scalped by Thakur himself as he got the better of Rahmat Shah trapping him right infront of the wickets. However, skipper Shahidi and Omarzai formed a decent partnership to bail the Afghani side from a troublesome position.
