IND vs AFG: India win by 8 wickets, Men in Blue march on with Rohit & Bumrah masterclass

India secure stunning win vs Afghanistan in 2nd World Cup clash

IND vs AFG: The Men in Blue march on in the World Cup. Stunning performances from India helped the Men in Blue to clinch their 2nd win of the campaign. Jasprit Bumrah’s four-fer helped tame Afghanistan for 272. Rohit Sharma then began his carnage while Virat Kohli comfortably picked his 68th fifty to help India secure the win with 15 overs to spare.

Rohit & Ishan began the chase for the Men in Blue on a strong note. Rohit Sharma slammed a fine Century and went on to cross 1000 runs in the World Cup. He now has scored the most centuries by any batter in World Cups. Kohli showcased his class by slamming a fine fifty at his home ground.

Earlier, India was tasked to chase 273 runs by Afghanistan. After being reduced to 63/3, the Afghan had a steady recovery courtesy of fifties from Hashmatullah Shahidi (80) & Azmatullah Omarzai (62). For India, Jasprit Bumrah was impressive with the ball after scalping a 4-wicket haul.

Earlier, Jasprit Bumrah struck first to dismiss Ibrahim Zadran. But Hashmatullah Shahidi and Omarzazai stitched together a century stand to steady the ship. Shardul Thakur trapped Rahmat Shah leg before while Hardik Pandya dismissed Rahmanullah Gurbaz. India is locking horns with Afghanistan in their second ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 game (IND vs AFG) currently in Delhi.

India had a training session yesterday, with the focus more on batting. To note, Rohit, Ishan Kishan, and Shreyas Iyer registered ducks in the first match against Australia. While their no-show did not affect India much, as Virat Kohli and KL Rahul rescued the team with a match-winning 165-run stand.

Kohli scored 85, while Rahul remained unbeaten on 97. However, India would not mind a better performance from their top order. Speaking about bowling, Indian bowlers were right on the money as Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, and Siraj were among the wickets.

While the Chennai pitch offered help for spinners, the same cannot be said about the Delhi surface. The match between South Africa vs Sri Lanka on the surface produced high run-scoring.

The same is expected from the IND vs AFG. All eyes will be on local boy Virat Kohli, as he will play a World Cup game from where it all started.
