Abdullah Shafique innings came to an end after he stroked 113 runs in just 103 balls including 10 fours and three sixes.

Pakistani opener Abdullah Shafique smashed a wonderful century in PAK vs SL World Cup clash in Hyderabad on October 10 (Tuesday). Shafique alongside Mohammad Rizwan were exceptional with the bat as they took the pressure in the middle stages of the chase and helped their side overcome the early stutters. Meanwhile, the right-handed batter after a completing a fine hundred, celebrated his knock by bowing down in front of the packed Hyderabad crowd.

Abdullah Shafique replaced Fakhar Zaman in playing XI

To note, Shafique replaced out of form Fakhar Zaman in the playing XI. The right-handed batter justified to decision to include him in the team as he not only bailed out his side from a tricky situation but also completed a fine ton. However, his celebration after the landmark also got a lot of limelight on social media as he copied Indian batter Shubman Gill.

Apart from Shafique, Rizwan also played a valiant knock for the Men in Green. Earlier in the match, Dilshan Madhushanka gave body blows to Pakistani side after getting the wickets of Imam-ul-Haq and skipper Babar Azam.

“I spoke to Shafique and the talk was on breaking down the innings and take it 20 overs at a time and set small targets to get the win. It was a sporting wicket and that helped me a lot,” Rizwan said after his match-winning partnership with Abdullah.

“The cramps were there, but now I am feeling fine. It happens with me sometimes. Was in pain but fought through it,” he added.
