Watch Virat Kohli winning best fielder award, expresses gratitude to fielding coach

Kohli displayed exceptional fielding with two vital catches: one diving left to dismiss Marsh from Jasprit Bumrah's delivery and another off Adam Zampa, bowled by Hardik Pandya.

Following India’s convincing six-wicket triumph over Australia in the fifth match of the ODI World Cup on Sunday, Virat Kohli was honored with a gold medal for his outstanding fielding skills, presented to him by the Indian fielding coach, T Dilip in the Indian dressing room. The BCCI shared a behind-the-scenes clip capturing the moment. Watch the video below.

During the medal presentation, the Indian fielding coach also commended the exceptional fielding efforts of Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer. However, Dilip underscored the team’s emphasis on consistency and overall performance, rather than singling out one remarkable catch. This is why Virat Kohli was picked as the recipient of the best fielding award.

“Firstly… at last, we got this because we’ve been telling everyone that we need to have a best fielder of the match etc. And at last, we got some token for it. I think in today’s game, Ishan put up an outstanding effort. Shreyas was outstanding for taking two catches.

“But something we keep talking about in this team is consistency. It’s just not about one catch, or one piece of fielding. Overall, I’d like to think intensity, backing up… not only doing your job but also making sure that you encourage and keep the right fielders at the right place. So, this one goes to Virat,” said T Dilip.
