Another day, another World Cup ticket debacle. And the BCCI is once again facing fans’ wrath as the Indian board decided to release IND vs AUS tickets just three hours before the match. And those who wanted to get one could not get those. As a result, there were plenty of empty seats at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in the first half of India vs Australia ODI World Cup clash on Sunday. And expectedly, fans did not take it well.
On Saturday, BCCI announced that 14,000 more tickets will be released for India vs Pakistan match. While there were no information on other matches including the IND vs AUS clash, tickets were available on the BookMyShow, the official ticketing platform, even at 11 AM on Sunday.
IND vs AUS Ticket debacle
It must be noted that in the first two windows, tickets were “sold out” for India vs Australia clash. But that seemed to ber just a marketing trick. In fact, tickets were available. It’s just that BCCI & ICC released a limited number of World Cup tickets.
And with poor crowd at the stadiums for all matches, both BCCI & the ICC are facing the heat. For now, India vs Pakistan match (Oct 14) apart from India vs Afghanistan clash (Oct 11) are sold out. But whether BCCI can fill the stadiums on both days still remain a question mark.
Fans unhappy
With such poor World Cup ticket management, fans once again lashed out at the BCCI. Some fans also claimed that BookMyShow agents were at the MA Chidambaram Stadium before the match and those who wanted to buy tickets could get one by scanning QR codes.
