South Africa have broken the record for the highest score in World Cup history. After Quinton de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen took them past 200 in just 30 overs in the SA vs SL clash in the ODI World Cup 2023, the Proteas were already in contention for breaking the record against an injury-hit Sri Lanka.

After the twin tons by de Kock and van der Dussen, Aiden Markram and David Miller joined the party and saw their side sail past 400 with ease, eventually breaking Australia’s eight-year-old record.

Interestingly, three of the top five highest scores in the ODI World Cup came in the 2015 World Cup. Moreover, two of these three scores have been made by South Africa, who have now broken the record.
