‘Next target World Cup’ Fans overjoyed as Ruturaj Gaikwad & Co. win gold in Asian Games

Team India won the gold medal after their final match against Afghanistan got abandoned due to rain.

Indian fans are over the moon as Ruturaj Gaikwad and Co. clinched the gold medal after the final match in the cricket competition of the ongoing Asian Games got abandoned. Earlier, the Men in Blue won the toss against Afghanistan and opted to have a bowl first. The Indian bowlers had their grasp on the match as they reduced Afghanistan to just 112/5 before the rain played the spoilsport.

Afghanistan had a poor start with the bat

As mentioned above, Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and opted to have a bowl first. The Afghani side started poorly with the bat as they lost three wickets early in the innings. Zubaid Akbari was the first batter to get dismissed as Shivam Dube got the first wicket. Later on, Arshdeep Singh got the big wicket of Mohammad Shahzad. Noor Ali Zadran, the number three batter dismissed for 1 suffering a run out at the keepers end.

The batting side got to a better position when Shahidullah Kamal and Afsar Zazai took the attack to the Indian bowlers. However, the Indians made another comeback reducing the Afghans for 52/5, Shahidullah Kamal was joined by the skipper Gulabdin Naib. The duo started taking the spinners on and Shahidullah reached to 49 hitting 3 boundaries and 2 sixes. Naib also batted well for his 27 off 24 balls hitting a couple of sixes and a solitary boundary.

Spinner Ravi Bishnoi was the star bowler bowling at an economy of 3 per over and taking a wicket. Arshdeep Singh, Shivam Dube, Shahbaz Ahmed shared three wickets between them.
